Curriculum Intent

Spa Academy’s aim is to provide opportunities for all children to develop a love of languages and a desire to explore and respect other cultures and countries. At the heart of our French curriculum is the intent to broaden the horizons of our pupils and open up a world of possibilities outside of our local community.  By nurturing the desire to learn a language and appreciate other cultures, we develop an understanding of our own cultural identity within a multi-cultural society. Through high-quality teaching and the delivery of a quality French curriculum built around the Language Angels scheme of learning, we aim to embed the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing.  

Beginning in Year 3, Spa’s age-appropriate, sequential progression of French learning enables children to communicate with enthusiasm, confidence and independence in a variety of contexts and lays solid foundations for future language learning in secondary school and beyond.
